Project Update: Barking Riverside Rail Development
Barking Riverside is a planned railway station in Barking in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, east London, that will serve the Barking Riverside regeneration area including housing, leisure and shopping facilities.
The Barking Riverside expansion will allow capabilities to run four trains per jour from Barking station along the existing Tilbury line. After passing under the Renwick Road Bridge, the line will head south to a new station in the centre of the Barking Riverside development. The project is planned to provide Barking Riverside with 26,000 new homes, a new school, healthcare facilities, high-quality public spaces and connections to walking & cycling routes.
Covering 443 acres of land, the Barking Riverside Railway development is bringing with it approximately 16,000 jobs. Construction on the project has already begun and is expected to continue into 2021.
