World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is celebrated on the 10th of October every year. It’s a designated day of the year to show your support for better Mental Health and start looking after your own Wellbeing. WMHD was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.

Mental Health problems affect around 1 in 4 people in any given year; these can range from problems such as anxiety and depression to problems such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. Mental health is just like physical health, everyone has it and everyone should look after it.

At CarmichaelUK, we take our Candidates and Staff Physical and Mental Health equally seriously. We host a Wellbeing platform for our working Candidates and Staff to access Mental Health Advice – Including UK helplines, Exercise Tips, Monetary Advice and Healthy Eating Recipes. Alongside this, we arrange regular events for our Staff to attend that get them away from their desk and allow time to clear their mind and relax.

This year, for World Mental Health Day, we’re taking time out from work for a coffee morning across our offices. This enables our staff to take time out and chat to people they wouldn’t necessarily usually get a chance to socialise within the working day. If you’re looking to host your own Coffee Morning there are free resources online to help you get started! Our Coffee Morning will be raising money to support MIND, a charity we regularly work with and support through our Celebrate Initiative.
