CarmichaelUK Supports World Mental Health Day at work
World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is an international day for global education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. At CarmichaelUK, we understand the importance of our staff’s mental wellbeing and so we host regular events that give our employees the chance to clear their head away from their desks in the day.
WMHD was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. The theme is set year on year by the WFMH, This year’s theme was Suicide Prevention.
Mental Health problems affect around 1 in 4 people in any given year; these can range from problems such as anxiety and depression to problems such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. Mental health is just like physical health, everyone has it and everyone should look after it.
This year for WMHD, we took time out of our busy schedules to play board games with one another. This enables our staff to take time out and chat with people they wouldn’t necessarily usually get a chance to socialise within the working day.
At CarmichaelUK, we’ve also partnered up with Mates in Mind so that our contractors can access round the clock care and advise when needed. Mates in Mind do not offer any direct support but work closely with the following leading, confidential information and support services:
