This month, CarmichaelUK staff spent an afternoon volunteering at the annual Bucks Young Carers Family Fun Day. Bucks Young Carers is a charity that helps provide assistance to young carers, who often forgo areas of their childhood in helping to care for their parent or guardians. The family fun day gives children the opportunity to enjoy a day of fun and take a break from the responsibility of providing care to adults.

This year’s Carnival themed event was packed full of games for everybody to enjoy. The inflatable activities included a bouncy castle, basket ball game, sheep rodeo and an obstacle course.  The more relaxing activities included a parade craft area, nail bar, and face painting tent. This is the second year that CarmichaelUK staff have volunteered at the event, helping with set up, manning stalls and participating in competitions! However the 9.94-second record for completing the inflatable obstacle course proved difficult to beat!

The fun day came to an end with a visit from the Ice-cream man and the highly anticipated Carnival Parade, an opportunity for the children to show off all the crafts that they had created throughout the day.

We’d like to thank all of the CarmichaelUK staff who helped play a part in the day. Young Carers do lots of fantastic work within the local community, providing a place to come together for children who care for their parents or guardians, selflessly putting themselves second.  They help to ensure the young carers can enjoy a positive and fulfilled childhood and we’re very proud to be able to support them and the amazing work they do.
