Last weekend, staff from CarmichaelUK spent an afternoon volunteering at the Annual Bucks Young Carers Family Fun Day. Bucks Young Carers is an independent charity established in 2004 to support the wellbeing of family carers in Buckinghamshire. The family fun day allows children a day away from their everyday responsibilities as a carer and provides an opportunity to enjoy a day of fun! The theme for this year’s event was ‘Flower Power’ which saw people sporting their best floral headbands!

The inflatable activities included a bouncy castle, basketball shootouts, surf simulator and an obstacle course. There was also a selection of more relaxing activities including nail painting, sandcastle building, face painting, airbrush tattoos and Shetland Ponies! This is the fourth year CarmichaelUK staff have helped out at the event, setting up, manning the stalls, participating in the games and packing away at the end of the day.

We’d like to thank all of the CarmichaelUK staff who helped play a part in the day. Young Carers do lots of fantastic work within the local community, providing a place to come together for children who care for their parents or guardians, selflessly putting themselves second.  They help to ensure the young carers can enjoy a positive and fulfilled childhood and we’re very proud to be able to support them and the amazing work they do. We’re looking forward to next year!
