This month is LGBT History month! LGBT History Month is a month-long annual observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. We’re celebrating by looking back at some of the things CarmichaelUK have been involved in to support the LGBT Community.

CarmichaelUK is proud to be a Stonewall Champion and aims to be an employer of choice by promoting inclusive and accepting environments in the workplace. Stonewall was founded in 1989 by a small group of people who have been active in promoting equality for the LGBT community.

Recently, Staff from CarmichaelUK showed their support of the Stonewall Rainbow Laces Campaign. This campaign aims to bring people together through the power of sport. Two of our Rugby playing employees were keen to distribute the rainbow laces amongst their teams. This shows support for the LGBTQ+ community, by encouraging everybody to work and play together inclusively without judgement or discrimination. Rainbow laces photo

CarmichaelUK staff regularly take part in Refresher sessions with Alex from Stonewall, the sessions contain facts and real life experiences. We believe it’s important for our team members to involve themselves in discussions about how to be a truly inclusive employer and agency as well as understand the challenges those in the LGBT community face.

Last year, Senior Business Manager, Kelly Stewart, attended the London Pride Festival 2018 alongside Papyrus. Papyrus is a UK charity working to prevent young suicides by providing confidential support and advice to young people or those worried about a young person.
