Staff from CarmichaelUK took part in celebrations this weekend at London’s Pride 2018.

Our Business Manager Kelly, joined forces with Papyrus, a UK charity working to prevent young suicides by providing confidential support and advice to young people or those worried about a young person.

CarmichaelUK is proud to be in partnership with Stonewall and InterEngineering, promoting inclusive and accepting environments in the workplace. This, in turn, creates an environment of trust and a team culture where people look out for each other.

Company Director, Collette Carmichael said: “At CarmichaelUK we have always been committed to doing what is right, not what is easy.  We feel that it is right to support Stonewall so that all of our staff, candidates, clients, and suppliers know that we will not tolerate discrimination in our workplace.

The ethos at the core of our company is that we will all strive to ‘be the best we can’ and joining Stonewall and networking with LGBT groups has reinforced this core value.  With help from Stonewall and InterEngineering, we are learning more, developing and improving to become a truly inclusive employer of choice and hope this influences other organisations within the sector to sign up to the programme and learn how they can make their organisations a better place to work”.

When people understand and support each other the result is a happier and more productive workforce with a conscientious attitude to site health and safety. With that in mind, we’re proud to introduce you to our new Stonewall Celebrate Champions.

Celebrate is our internal strategy to address inclusive recruitment, embedding diversity and inclusion practices throughout our business and in sourcing candidates. Part of this commitment saw our pledge to support recruitment within the LGBT community by becoming a member of the Diversity Champions programme, run by Stonewall. Alex, Dominika and Ellena will work closely to promote the LGBT+ community.

The programme is designed to address equal and inclusive recruitment for candidates in the construction and engineering industry. Click here to read about our last Stonewall Training Session.
