HS2 remains on schedule with main works contracts having been awarded in July. Enabling Works contractors are already on board and preparing activities on the ground over the next few months and we're keen to talk to candidates about a number of opportunities including Quantity Surveyors and Design Managers based in Central London.
The £900m package of enabling works is shared between seven firms in three consortia. A Costain Skanska joint venture, a three-way partnership between Morgan Sindall, BAM Nuttall and Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke Construction in joint venture with J Murphy & Sons. The early works will include site investigations, enabling works, demolition and land preparation on phase 1 which will link London to Birmingham and the West Coast Main Line near Lichfield, a total of 225 route-km.
The enabling works are designed to clear the way ahead of the main contractors starting on site from next year and Phase One’s winning contractors are:

Long Itchington Wood Green Tunnel to Delta Junction and Birmingham Spur BBV JV (Balfour Beatty Group Ltd, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, VINCI Construction UK Ltd, VINCI Construction Terrassement)
Delta Junction to WCML Tie-In BBV JV (Balfour Beatty Group Ltd, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, VINCI Construction UK Ltd, VINCI Construction Terrassement)
