Proudly Supporting Sport in the Street Event

We’re delighted to be a supporter of the first Sport in the Street Event in Thame, Oxfordshire where our head office is based.

On Friday 23rd June sports teams will come together in the Thame’s High Street to encourage the local community to be more involved in sport. The idea came from Manoj Parmar, and his wife Hema who run MP Cricket Academy in Thame.

“Our lives were completely changed by sport and we want to help others see that sport is a great opportunity to not only improve health but also create a sense of fellowship and to have fun.”

Parmar himself was a professional cricketer in India before moving to Thame and setting up his business MP Sports. Last year he and Hema created a “90 Not Out” street cricket event to celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday, which gained recognition in the form of a ‘thank you’ note from The Queen.

The event was so successful that this year, over 15 local sporting clubs are signed up to be part of the fun and the local community will be able to learn more about the different sports clubs in their community including, Cricket, Tennis, Bowls, Badminton, Football. Cycling, Rugby and Tai Kwon Do.

The event will take place in Thame High Street between 6.30pm and 9pm. There will be live demonstrations, entertainment and special guests of honour from the sporting world.

At CarmciahelUK we have a long history of supporting local events and charities. We were proud to be a key sponsor of last year’s Small Business Saturday and our staff are looking forward to once again, supporting Young Carers Bucks at their Family Fun Day in August.
