SENIOR ENGINEER - PAVEMENTS / MARINE PORTS
LOCATION: Kent, UK
SALARY: £250-300p/day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Engineer skilled in pavement design and construction to join a major port authority undergoing significant redevelopment works in the South East of England.
The ideal candidate will have had significant technical design and subcontractor management experience working as a senior engineer on major civil / highways / marine projects in the UK. Ideally with a main tier Engineering Consultancy or EPCM.
This in an opportunity to work within one of Europe's busiest ferry / cargo ports with immense economic significance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Reporting to the Project Manager

*Design and construction supervision of pavement and associated civil engineering works.
*Monitoring and management of the nominated subcontractors
*Ensuring the works are constructed according to the design and specifications
*Ensure Health and Safety compliance
Preparation of Specifications, Method Statements and Progress Reports
*To prepare designs, contract documents, specifications, drawings, risk and environmental assessments for the execution of building, civil engineering, dredging and other port related works which are to be carried out by contract.
*To assess Contractors, Consultants and Suppliers against safety and quality competency criteria and make recommendations for appointment.
*Liaise with architects, consultants and quantity surveyors appointed and provide regular updates on the progress of work on site in respect of brief, time, quality, safety, financial targets and operational constraints
*To ensure that site records are maintained to enable works to be measured and evaluated with the assistance of inspecting staff and/or others.
*To furnish reports, regularly for financial and progress reports on contract works
*To provide estimates and feasibility studies for proposed new schemes and alterations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
*Degree in Civil Engineering (or minimum HNC equivalent qualification)
*Experience in pavement design & subcontractor management on a highways / marine project with a main tier engineering consultancy / EPCM
*Knowledge of Standard forms of Contract (NEC / JCT)
*Excellent written and verbal communication
