You will be working across all of the business divisions including Build, Civils, Rail, Sports and Leisure, working in close collaboration with Engineering Surveyors, Geospatial Engineers, CAD Technicians and the Commercial teams.
Reporting to the Principal Geospatial Analyst you will use your experience to inspire and support the Geomatics team whilst taking responsibility of working across multiple projects at any one time. This is a great position for a candidate with excellent adaptable and flexible work ethics who are also are an effective and efficient communicator.
As Senior CAD Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
The geospatial analysis of 2D and 3D digital information. Involving processing and analysing 3D land surveys produced in-house and externally, using this information as an output to inform and educate live sites and tender submissions of existing ground contours, conditions, geotechnical strata, stockpiles, etc.
Processing and converting 2D design information into 3D data, creation of design digital terrain models. Design terrain models will be used for quantification, measurements and volumetrics for earthworks estimating and pricing at tender stage, and value engineering the scheme as a live tender submission, giving the client the best possible civils scheme.
Using these digital surfaces to analyse the design scheme and value engineering the levels to reduce earthworks scope and volumes. At contract stage the digital terrain models will be analysed along with progress surveys of the site to inform and educate project managers on earthworks progress, related to program and project cost and value engineer the scheme as a design and build contract giving the client the best possible civils scheme.
Processing, generating and presenting 2D civils designs through plans and sections as AutoCAD outputs for internal and external tender and live contract works.
Providing, along with the entire Geomatics department, general technical support for the company in every division utilising the software to assist the estimators, and project teams on site, enabling them to view and output drawings, models and files etc. Offering technical support and advice of software and geomatics processes outside of the geomatics department.

If you believe you have the right skills and experience for this role, you will also need to demonstrate:
Autodesk Civil 3D software and particularly the use of Surfaces, Grading Objects, Corridors and Sections/Profiles.
Working in compliance with relevant industry and British standards.
Other Geospatial software packages such as LSS, Trimble Realworks and Trimble Business Centre (preferred).
Microsoft Excel knowledge the use of pivot tables, lookups and other advanced data manipulation tools.
A full UK driving license.
English Language stage minimum B2 / Intermediate.
