Section Engineer - Rail

Note: Hourly rates will vary for payments under PAYE status or via an umbrella company


Carmichael is delighted to be recruiting for one of the world's leading civil engineering organisations for a Section Engineer to work on an electrification programme in Suffolk.

This 5 month contract, which could be extended, will encompass work which deal with heritage issues on alterations to structures, footbridges, utilities and specially manufactured OLE systems. Therefore, the contractor is keen to hear from engineers with experience in civils within a rail environment.

Working on this section of works, your duties will include:

* Assist the project management team on electrification section of works
* Amending and writing method statements and risk assessment
* Managing the subcontractors and site engineers
* Carrying out regular quality inspections
* Produce ITPs and as builds
* Planning weekly and monthly programmes
* On site record keeping
* Helping drive the works schedule on site to keep to completion dates

This is an ideal opportunity for a Section Engineer with civils rail experience looking for a freelance contract to work on a major rail project.

If you are interested in the position, the successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

* Must have experience in writing WPP's and task briefings required for Station upgrade works
* You must possess previous Rail and street works experience
* Survey experience and ability to use an EDM would be a bonus
* Must have PTS
