A Main Contractor is looking for an experienced Planning Manager for a Roads project in Hertfordshire. Duration is at least 2 months and will start as soon as possible.
Role Summary: The Planning Manager will support the Chief Planning Engineer/ Senior Planning Manager within the Pre-Construction Planning team. The Planning Manager will lead the development and production of a tender programme ensuring it complies with the Contract and Works Information, and to reflect the most efficient and effective sequence to deliver a project, or section of works. They will supervise and coach Planning Engineers and Graduates in planning and programming methods and techniques. Liaise with the Estimating team and assist with the preparation of Preliminary Items; method related items; reconciliation of labour, plant and equipment.
Tasks: *Manage the planning staff on the tender to produce the plan and programme for submission. *Ensure the plan and programme incorporate allowance for safe working methods and timely construction. *Identify risk to the programme, make time risk allowance in the programme and contribute to the tender risk and opportunity schedule/register. *Liaise and negotiate with suppliers communicating our proposed methods and sequence. *Assist the bid team to evaluate supply chain quotations/methodologies that relate to programme *Liaise with the Estimator to ensure allowance is made for Preliminaries *Identify the key resources and resource levels within Tender programme *Work with the project team to develop or assist with the First Programme for Acceptance *Manage the cost loading of the programme in liaison with the Estimating team to produce a cashflow if required.
Essential Skills/Experience: *P6 primevera planning software *Highways/Road works *Civils/site experience on major infrastructure works. *sound knowledge of the MCHW/DMRB. *Traffic management/utilities works. *NEC3 contracts. *Highways England/DCO process.
