Our client, a leading rail contractor is currently recruiting for the position of Pway Designer Engineer to join their team.
-Demonstrate proficient previous experience of Permanent Way (P-Way) design (both S&C and plain line) with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail standards. An added benefit would be experience of Light Rail / Metro systems and Maintenance Depots.
-As a minimum, the successful applicant will be BTEC/HNC qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
-Working knowledge in the use of design software and drawing production such as clear route, MXRail, InRail or Bentley Rail Track plus AutoCAD or Microstation.
-Experience as a senior permanent way design engineer undertaking the role of client liaison on project technical and progress matters.
-Checking and supervising the work of a team of P-Way design engineers.
-Relevant experience in PWay design is essential.
-Will have extensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the design office environment and delivery of design from out-based design teams.
-Knowledge of basic Project Management techniques and procedures, experience in managing teams whether internal or client teams is desirable.
-Will be responsible for supervising work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget.
-Will play a key part in the management and running of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
-Degree or HNC /HND in Civil Engineering with extensive permanent way design experience in the UK heavy rail market sector.
-Post graduate qualification an advantage.
-Recognised leader in specialist discipline with well-established industry networks.
-Proven ability to network and influence at peer levels.
-Able to contribute to commercial issues within the permanent way discipline.
-Preferably a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and / or a Member of the Permanent Way Institute (PWI).
-Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
-Leadership of design team
-Managing internal and external relationships
-Sales and marketing effectiveness
