ASSET VALIDATION TEAM LEADER - Highways Essex Permanent We have a superb opportunity if you wish to be an integral and valued member of a highways maintenance team and have previous experience of managing a team. For this position, you will be leading the team responsible for the validation of maintenance works programmes for highways assets so your prior experience in Asset Management within the highways sector is highly sought after. Reporting to the Asset Strategy and Policy Manager you will be reviewing potential sites for various management systems and conducting site visits to view the suitability for selected maintenance. As an experienced professional within this area, you will possess excellent knowledge of a wide range of relevant engineering or service techniques and procedures, in particular treatment and materials selection For this particular position, your duties and responsibilities will include: *Assisting the functional manager by forming an integral part in leading the team, deputising as required. *To assist in providing clear and robust leadership of the team to ensure that staff are clear of their direction, motivated and that productivity is maximised. The team performances to be regularly monitored to ensure staff are developed positively driving efficient delivery. *To utilise asset management tools and techniques to ensure the effective use of asset information for the asset management. *To interrogate asset management systems to establish maintenance history of our assets to assist in identifying appropriate maintenance treatments. *To implement programmes of coring and drainage investigations to supplement existing asset data to assist in identifying appropriate maintenance treatments. *To liaise with the capital maintenance delivery teams in the establishment of the agreed annual capital maintenance programmes, preparation of capital scheme job packs and materials specifications.

The successful applicant will also need to have the following requirements: *Degree, or equivalent high level qualification, or significant experience in highways. *Membership or working towards membership of a relevant Professional Institution. *Evidence of continuous professional development. *Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Asset Management principles and concepts. *Relevant knowledge of Highway Legislation, knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations. *Knowledge and application of budgetary management and control measures. *Knowledge of a wide range of relevant engineering or service techniques and procedures, in particular treatment and materials selection. *Ability to prioritise own work to support business priorities and as a team leader. *Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills (including report writing). *Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes. *Able and confident in dealing with a wide range of people at the highest level on sensitive, complex and contentious issues. *Required to be mobile throughout an operational area (or throughout Essex or similar where more appropriate) and therefore a valid driving licence and use of own car where not provided, unless the role can be undertaken effectively by alternative transport arrangements. *To carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed or implied from time to time commensurate to the post and/or organisational requirements.
